Got the opportunity to purchase 2 great boxes privately. Thank you to the great BOTL who offered these up to me. I have had both on my wish list for awhile so I immediately jumped on them when they were up for sale. The 2007 Original Release Edicion Regional Edmundo Dante 109s and a white whale, the 2004 Ramon Allones 898.
The first box is the original release 2007 Edicion Regional Edmundo Dante Conde 109s. These are highly coveted in the cigar world as the 109 vitola has not been in regular production for awhile and is usually saved for special releases.
There were only 600 boxes of 25 cigars originally released. There was an additional run of 600 boxes of 25 cigars were released in 2008. Max Guttman, a prominent person in the cigar world and quite loved by Habanos SA, wanted to make the initial Mexican release a special one so he named the release ‘Edmundo Dantes’ instead of Montecristo and brought back an old school shape, the 109 Vitola. Thank you to Melies for the clarification.
These are just gorgeous cigars and the smell when you open the box is intoxicating.
Looking forward to comparing the 2007 to the 2008 release.
The second box is one of my white whale cigars. The Ramon Allones 898. These are from 2004. An interesting tidbit on this vitola. They were ‘officially’ discontinued in 2002 however, there were boxes available until 2004. It seems that Habanos SA typically announces a vitola is going to be discontinued and then continues to produce them for a couple more years.
Looking forward to doing a comparison between this cigar and the 2002 edition.
Thanks again to the great BOTL who provided me the opportunity to purchase these.
